About

Hi, I’m Courtney Sutherland! I was born and raised doing theatre in the East Bay. I earned my BA in Theatre Arts from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where I focused on scenic art and stage management. Over the years, I’ve explored nearly every corner of the theatre world, with roles including: stage manager, lighting designer, set designer, intimacy coordinator, actor and scenic charge artist.
I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with incredible companies, including San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre, Masquers Playhouse—where I’m a member—I Can Do That! Performing Arts Center, Las Lomas High School, and San Ramon Valley High School. Currently, I work as the Mainstage and Junior production set designer and builder at I Can Do That! and as the Assistant Technical Director for Las Lomas High School’s upcoming production of Hadestown. I’m also serving as the intimacy coordinator for SRV’s upcoming production of Grease.
Beyond the stage, I’m passionate about sharing my love of theatre with others. I taught the first-ever technical theatre class at I Can Do That! Performing Arts Center and helped raise $500,000 for the company’s expansion, while managing their marketing emails and social media accounts.
When I’m not in the theatre, you’ll find me sketching, watching makers on YouTube, playing Dungeons & Dragons, thrifting, throwing a frisbee, or scrolling on Facebook Marketplace for hidden gems. But above all, I love spending time with my family, auditioning for new productions, and hanging out with my cat, Winnie Ducky Momo.

Thank you for stopping by! :)
